About the artist

Art has been a personal healing journey for me and after several jobs, including 15 amazing years of nursing, Art College beckoned. Having graduated in 2000 with a B.A. Hons in Fine Art, I went on to work with adults and children in several different art projects, until 2008, when I became a full-time artist/painter. During that time I have come to believe that art and the arts are closely linked to a “healing” process, whether you paint, sing, dance, write, make or listen to music. It is no surprise or accident that I paint landscapes, mainly in Scotland. I love Scotland and I love the colours of the seasons and the textures of the mountains. I love the atmosphere of the changing weather, and let’s face it, that is one thing that Scotland has plenty of - weather!

I stand to paint on a flat surface, with a palette knife for texture and a hake brush for blending. I like the quick drying time of the acrylics but have not ruled out using oils in the future. I hope that my love of Scotland and our great home Earth shows in my work as I also hope that whoever is attracted to the paintings, for whatever reason, be it the colours, texture or indeed the place, can also feel that love and appreciation for our great, beautiful and fragile land.
